"I'm not lost for I know where I am. But however, where I am may be lost" - on construction and deconstruction of the cognitive map
We have now quite a lot of knowledge about the phenomenology of the cognitive map, as manifested in the function of various cell types, such as place cells, grid cells and head-direction cells. Two major questions seem as the logical next step. First, how is the cognitive map formed? Second, how do these cells affect behavior? I will present several projects from the lab which tackle these questions.
