"Not noisy, just right." -Chris Glaze
I'm going to discuss my recent work on change-point detection and a new result showing that the appearance of trial-to-trial "decision noise" may actually reflect online inferences about volatility in the environment.
The work is following up on a paper we just published: http://elifesciences.org/content/4/e08825
I have developed several biologically plausible models that make these adaptive inferences and am currently struggling with how to distinguish them in the data we have.
