The Birds

Hitchcock made them scary, but with the help of a good experimentalist, birds allow us to answer some very interesting neuroscience questions. I will describe a few ongoing projects that we’ve been working on together with Sam Sober, using Bengalese finch as a model system. First, I will show how motor control in birds is done by multispike patterns at millisecond temporal resolution. Second, I will describe a Bayesian integration model that explains salient features of sensorimotor learning in this system.

A pizza lunch will be served at 12:00pm. The talk will begin at 12:15pm.
